The technical industries were always considered to be something solely made for men, especially when it comes to secure the top level positions. These industries were always ruled by men and have experienced very less participation by women in this domain. However, the trend is changing and more and more women have started taking entries into the boardroom of various top IT industries. Those days are fading away when women were restricted to secure the top positions and were considered to be not meant for technology. Nowadays, women are actively participating in technology and as a result, large numbers of women are holding top strategic positions in top companies. So, the top 5 women in tech who have successfully created the marks of existence of women in technology (that too at the top positions) and are inspiration for millions are as listed:

1.Inderpreet Sawhney, General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, Infosys

Inderpreet is a seasoned international professional. She is Group General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer of Infosys with over 25 years of experience. She has worked as a Managing Partner of a mid-sized law firm in Silicon Valley. She has also worked as in-house counsel at ITC Limited. She has been graduated with BA (Honors) and LL.B degree from Delhi University and her post-graduation with LL.M from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada.

2.Vanitha Narayanan, Managing Director, IBM India Private Limited

Vanitha Narayanan is the one who is responsible for all of IBM’s sales, services and global delivery operations in the India and various other South Asian regions. Narayanan is having over 26 years of experience in the technology domain. She is a part of the IBM ISA business, serving in roles as the Sales & Distribution Leader and recently as the Managing Partner for Global Business Services (GBS).

Before this, she has served as the Vice President of Communications sector, Asia Pacific, and the Global Vice President for IBM’s telecom solutions offerings. Narayanan has done her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Madras and her Master’s in Business Administration in Information Systems from University of Houston.

3. Kirthiga Reddy, Facebook India MD

Kirthiga joined Facebook in 2010 as its first employee in India. As a managing director of Facebook India, she redefined Facebook’s mantra of ’staying connected’ and has been one of the leading forces behind the company’s expansive growth in the country. Under her monitoring, Facebook India has managed to not only grow its user base but has also made significant contribution to its global business through advertisement sales with major tie-ups like Coca Cola India.

In 2011, she became Fortune India’s Top 50 Most Powerful Women and was also among India’s 25 most influential women. Before Facebook, she worked at global companies such as Silicon Graphics and Motorola. She has done her master’s in business administration from Stanford University and an M.S. in computer engineering from Syracuse University.

4. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO and Executive Director, HCL Corporation

She has worked as CEO and Executive Director of the HCL Corporation. Nadar  is responsible for taking strategic decisions regarding the overall direction of HCL Corporation. She is actively involved in multiple philanthropy projects.

Nadar has secured an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management with a focus on Social Enterprise and Management & Strategy.

5. Neelam Dhawan, MD Hewlett-Packard India

Neelam Dhawan is well known name in the IT industry and one of the few woman executives working at a leading position in MNCs. In her capacity as the Managing Director of Hewlett-Packard India, Dhawan is responsible for the growth of various business segments of the leading IT solutions provider. Prior to Hewlett-Packard India, she headed the sales and marketing operations at Microsoft India.

Dhawan has held a number of roles in leading IT companies, including HCL and IBM. Dhawan holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi and a Masters in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University.
